What is Mole Mapping?

How long does it take?

Mole Mapping is a specialised skin monitoring service that uses high resolution digital imaging and dermoscopy to track changes in moles overtime. It helps detect early signs of skin cancer, particularly melanoma. It includes a full body skin check by a Dermatology Nurse Specialist, thoroughly examining all areas of the skin for suspicious lesions/ moles.

 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the number of moles being assessed.


During the appointment high quality images are taken using a specialised Fotofinder machine with AI technology.

To ensure accurate imaging:

  1. If possible, avoid fake tan and heavy make up on the day of the appointment
  2. Wear comfortable clothing
  3. If possible, remove coloured nail polish
  4. Bring results from previously removed moles
  5. Bring hair tie for long hair

 The full body skin check and imaging are done with your underwear on. Your  comfort and privacy are our top priorities during the consultation.

 All photos are securely stored and accessible only by our qualified specialists.  

The Fotofinder system is not connected to the internet for safety and privacy purposes.

If a mole or lesion shows concerning features or changes, we will recommend further clinical evaluation with a Dermatologist, which may include a biopsy or removal.

A highly skilled Dermatologist will review all the photographs and scans. A comprehensive report will be sent via email in a week.

 Wistaria Court, 24a Avenue Road,
Lymington, Hampshire, SO41 9GJ 

 

Sat nav may not exactly locate the clinic, so we recommend that you locate Lymington Police Station/Council Offices entrance on Avenue Road SO41 9ZG.

On entering, follow signs to the right to Wistaria Court Medical Centre, then follow the road left, you will see the fire station on your right, and Boots pharmacy straight ahead.

The entry door to the practice is under the arches to the left of Boots.

Free parking is available outside the practice, or overspill council parking is adjacent (this is paid parking).

The Arches Physiotherapy is on the first floor (there is a lift and stairs access). You are required to buzz in and our receptionists will let you in.
